Who is Invited
All incoming students are invited. Parents and guests are also invited and strongly encouraged to attend and celebrate their student's entry into Georgia Tech. A special reception for parents and guests will be held immediately before the Convocation ceremony.

 

The following information applies to New Student Convocation 2012. Details about Convocation 2013 coming soon!

Date
New Student Convocation 2012 will be held on Sunday, August 19, 2012. 

Time
The ceremony will begin promptly at 5:00 p.m. and will end at 6:30 p.m.

Location, Directions, and Convocation Parking
The convocation will be held at the Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC), Exhibit Hall C.

Parking will be available in the GWCC Blue Lot for $10.

Campus Shuttles are available for all students departing from 3:15-3:45 p.m. in two locations:

East Campus - Outside of Field Residence Hall
West Campus - Outside of Hefner Residence Hall

Student Transportation
Shuttles will be available to take students from their residence halls to the Georgia World Congress Center.  Students may also walk to the Congress Center. Freshman students will meet with their Freshman Experience (FE) peer leader and will travel as a group. Transfer students and Freshman who are not in the Freshman Experience may also take the chartered shuttles. Please contact the Office New Student and Sophomore Programs at 404-894-6897 for locations where the shuttles will be picking up students.

Parent Reception
While your students are getting ready for Convocation, a special reception for parents and guests will be held prior to Convocation from 3:00pm - 4:30pm.  More details are available by clicking here.

Immediately Following Convocation
Students will attend a special party sponsored by Auxiliary Services- the 19th Annual Caribbean Party- which celebrates their first night as a Georgia Tech college student. It will be held in the Student Center, and students may take a shuttle or walk over there after the Convocation ceremony. This is a free event for new students.
