No, prior involvement is not necessary to be a FASET leader.

Do I have to have attended FASET?
While attending FASET provides you a personal insight,it is not essential for you to have been through the program. Our training process will give you all the information you need to be a successful FASET leader.

What other time commitments are there?
In addition to all mandatory commitments, plan to spend time getting to know your fellow FASET leaders through frequent activities such as socials and other events. FASET leaders are also encouraged to take part in optional activities such as developing and performing in Opening Number or assisting in creating programming for students and guests. Leaders are also expected to become knowledgeable about Georgia Tech and the FASET program.

Can I be a freshman?
Yes! Any undergraduate student may apply.

Do I have to have a small group?
While you are not required to lead a small group, we highly encourage you to do so. Small groups are the best chance to have meaningful interaction with incoming students and guests, and FASET leaders often say that small groups are one of the most meaningful aspects of their FASET experience.

Do I get paid?
Unfortunately we are unable to provide pay for FASET leaders.

Why should I do it if I don’t get paid?
FASET provides an excellent way to meet new people and experience personal growth while getting involved and giving back to Georgia Tech. Throughout your FASET experience you will form many friendships and take part in activities that help you grow as a person. In addition to having fun, you will develop skills that will benefit you in academics, extracurricular activities, and business. Examples include campus knowledge, critical thinking, communication skills, leading teams, and self-awareness.

What if I have a judicial history with the Dean of Students office?
Judicial histories are considered on a case-by-case basis and do not necessarily disqualify applicants from being accepted.

What GPA is required to be a leader?
We require a 2.20 Cumulative Fall Semester GPA (as listed in OSCAR) for all leaders. This is to ensure that our leaders can meet the time demands of being a part of our staff and still maintain good academic standing.
